Young Adult Carer Programme

A YAC is a Young Adult Carer aged 14-18 years old. Their needs and support they require is slightly different from their younger peers. North Wales Young Carers listened what they were saying and responded with a brand-new programme – Team YAC.

Young Adult Carer Programme

Team YAC is a group created for and by teenagers just like you! To join you must live in Wrexham, Conwy or Denbighshire and be aged 14 to 18 .

Joining Team YAC will give you the opportunity to connect with other young carers in your area, form new friendships, work on our Young Adult Carer programme, and learn valuable life skills. The programme includes a range of activities to encourage you to grow into an independent, self-sufficient young adult.

This is the age at which young adults typically choose a career path. Team YAC engages with an ‘In To Work’ programme, in which the young people enjoy the chance to discover more about different job roles and responsibilities in different professional establishments. North Wales Young Carers is a sister organisation to Cheshire Young Carers who have been supporting young carers for over 25 years. Here are some of activities from the past that the Cheshire group have visited such as M&S Bank and The Countess of Chester Hospital, to learn about what goes on behind the scenes of these busy and highly successful organisations. The In-To-Work programme inspires and motivates the young adult carers and shows them that self-belief and determination can go a long way in the professional world.

To register your interest in Team YAC you can contact the office via phone or email.
