About us

About us

North Wales Young Carers support young carers across North Wales in three key areas, school holiday respite programmes, individual & group support and working with schools/colleges to provide specialised support. Principally North Wales Young Carers is funded by The Neumark Foundation and private donations and is affiliated to Cheshire Young Carers

School Holiday Programmes

For most pupils, the school holidays are a time to get some well-deserved rest. However for a young carer, this is often the most stressful time, as school provides a chance to see friends and is a positive environment. They may feel more relaxed here than in their own home. To support these young people, North Wales Young Carers deliver respite support during all school holiday periods focused around activity programmes with plenty of activities  and lots of new experiences. Residential Trips

Young carers are often provided with the opportunity to spend a few days away from the home. Residential trips are a great opportunity for the young people to build some strong friendships, grow in confidence and independence, and also build on skills such as leadership and communication. Regular Group Sessions

Group respite sessions provide the young carers with a welcome break from their caring role. Here, they are given the chance to be a child again, leaving all their worries at the door. These sessions promote physical, mental health and general wellbeing, with enrichment programmes that provide them with valuable skills they will use to reach their full potential.
